How to complete a Rail Warrant

Before issuing a warrant to the traveller you will need to fully complete all of the information required in order for the ticket clerk to use the correct ticket.

Once completed, rail warrants cannot be altered in any way. If any errors are made, then simply destroy the warrant and issue a new one.

Tickets can only be issued in accordance with the instructions on the warrant. The most appropriate ticket will be issued to meet the traveller's needs.

Important Notification - Withdrawal of old style Non Bar-coded Rail Warrants

As from 30th September 2010 stations will only be able to accept bar-coded warrants and therefore it is important that you identify any old style warrants in your possession. Click here to look at a sample copy of a bar-coded warrant to help you identify the type of warrant that will be accepted from this date.

Bar-coded warrants have been issued to all ordinary warrant account holders, when ordering further books, since August 2008 (October 2009 for season ticket warrants) and as customers should only order a six month supply at any one time you should by now only have the bar-coded warrants in your possession.

If however you have the old style non bar-coded warrants then please note that these will not be accepted after 30th September at which point they should be destroyed.

If you require further books for your account in time for the above mentioned date then please contact Bottomline Technologies at bteclientservices@bottomline.com and quote your rail account number. Please allow up to 10 working days for delivery. The normal book fee of £15 will be payable for each book ordered.

Please ensure that this message is passed on to all offices within your organisation that issue rail warrants.
